A Better Life Needs Better Questions Go to the profile of Reece Robertson

Life is a question.

In a world full of uncertaintys, it’s those that think they know all the answers that wind up stuck, because the truth is evolving into every next level of your life requires you to ask better questions.

If you want anything from better abilities, better relationships or a better income, you’ll have to ask yourself insanely better questions to get it.

Let me tell you why:

But First, Why Questions?

“The instinct is to look for answers, but the truth is that questions that teach us most.” –Ryan Holiday

Why focus on questions? Wouldn’t answers be much better?

Answers are indeed wonderful. But it’s the questions you ask yourself that will lead to the answer you seek and the life you desire.

The questions you ask yourself affect how you think, what you believe, the decisions you make, the actions you take, and ultimately the direction and destination of your life.

So, if you can change the quality of your questions, you can change the quality of your life.

In his book Awaken the Giant Within, Tony Robbins put it like this:

I began to realize that thinking itself is nothing but the process of asking and answering questions. If after reading this you’re thinking,

“That’s true,” or “That’s not true,” you had to ask yourself — either consciously or unconsciously — a question, and that question was, “Is this true?”

The Power of Questions

The people living at the peaks of success didn’t just get lucky, they weren’t born with the talent and skills to be successful.

No — they got to where they are because they asked better questions and as a result, got better answers than everyone else.

Mark Zuckerberg asked, “How can I create an online network for easy information sharing and connection between individuals?”

Bill Gates asked, “How can I get a computer in every home?”

By asking insanely better questions they got drastically better results.

And anyone can do the same, because the quality of your questions will directly determine the quality of your answers.

Ask a terrible question, get a terrible answer.

Ask a life altering questioning, and the answer will be life altering.

Life Altering Questions

“Remember, your brain, like the genie, will give you whatever you ask of it. So be careful what you ask for — whatever you look for you’ll find.” -Tony Robbins

If questions are so powerful, why is it that so many are still frustrated looking for answers to live a better life?

I’m sure you can already guess — most people aren’t asking the right questions.

People are able to remain perpetually broke forever because they never change the financial questions they ask.

Instead of asking “What budgets do I need to set and what investment do I need make to achieve my ultimate financial goals?”

They ask questions like “Why are things so hard financially? Why can’t I have a million dollars?”

Further, many people are never able to have a partner they truly love in their life because they ask questions like “Why can’t I get someone to love me? Why do all my friends have loving relationships but not me?”

Instead of “What sort of person do I have to become to bring love into my life?”

Things will never change if you don’t change your mindset.

Our attention is a limited resource, the subconscious mind is constantly using selective attention to filter out unimportant details and focus on what really matters based on what you feed it.

For example, have you ever bought a new pair of shoes or a new car, and you start to notice more people wearing the same shoes or driving the same car? How did that happen? You didn’t seem to notice any of that before.

It’s because you’re mind is now trained to seeing those things every day so you begin to focus on them. The same thing happens with the questions you constantly ask yourself.

If you constantly ask “Why is it a can never save up enough money to meet my financial goals” You will constantly find the answers to support that question. It might be in the form of a new gadget you “had to buy” or a sale you “just couldn’t miss.”

Either way, you’ll find an answer to why you can never save up the amount of money you desire.

Whereas ask yourself “What is a good financial investment I can make to meet my future financial goals?” And you will subconsciously scan out and see yourself being presented with far better investment opportunities.

Don’t get it twisted, this not no law of attraction, you will not be able to magically manifest into your life the answers you seek. But ask the question, and whatever you look for you’ll find.

Become a Student of Great Questions

“If you don’t become a student first, you’ll never be great at anything” -Anthony Moore

If you really want to supercharge the quality of your questions and life, become a student of other peoples questions.

If someone’s absolutely excelling in an area of life, I can guarantee you that’s for the reason that there asking all the right questions.

If you find out their questions, you can use them and emulate their results.

If you go onto my profile and look through my latest posts you’ll notice they all display pictures of beautiful women. That is no accident. It’s something I learnt from the fabulous writer on here, Anthony Moore.

Anthony blogged for 4 years with very little success until he realized he had to change his questions.

He asked “What makes the Top Writers on Medium great?”

He went searching for the answers, collating spreadsheets of data he analyzed all the questions the the Top Writers were correctly answering:

What makes a good headline? What structure of articles is most readable? What topics do people want to read? What length of articles are people wanting to read?

Knowing the same questions the Top Writers were correctly answering, Anthony applied them to his own writing and his blogging career changed very fast.

Posting every day for a month he gained 4,000+ email subscribers in 30 days and today is now undoubtedly himself a Top writer on Medium.

Take it as a lesson, become a student of great questions and you will excel.

In Conclusion

“Questioning is like breathing — it’s something that seems so basic, so instinctive, that we take it for granted. But there’s a lot we can all learn about how to question, and really do it well to get the answers we seek.” -Thomas Oppong

Some people will remain stuck for years, their abilities will never improve, their relationships will never be as they desire and their wealth will continually decline.

Things will never change if you don’t change your mindset and the questions you ask.

Find out others peoples great questions, emulate them and you’ll find your life will change very fast.
