Positive thinking, affirmations, motivational quotes — all are very pretty and uplifting, but they alone will not change your life.
As you guys may have already seen, there’s an uproar of the positive-thinking movement through not only the well-being community, but also now landing in mainstream territories.
Enter any stationary store or section and you will be greeted with endless journals and notepads all plastering itself promises of a happier and healthier life if we were to think positively.
I have a few of those journals. They do work, don’t get me wrong. But they only work if you know how to completely utilise its hidden powers. And sadly, I don’t think most people do.
There’s a key ingredient that needs to be mixed in with positive thinking that people tend to overlook or are unaware of. If you familiarise yourself with this key ingredient, you will, no doubt, begin to see your life change for the better. I know I have.
I want to share that magical fairy dust with you today.
Let’s Take It Back To The Basics
When I say take it back to the basics, I mean we are going real back — Atoms, neutrons, electrons subatomic particles, type of back.
Quantum physics have now proven that anything and everything is made up of energy. Yes, everything. I don’t just mean the chair you’re sitting on or the tree outside. I’m talking about the thoughts you’re thinking — they too are energy. The emotions you experience — it’s also made up of energy.
And hear this — emotion is energy in motion.
Dr David Hawkins developed a map of human consciousness, also known as the Scale of Consciousness, whereby each level of consciousness is represented as what us mere mortals call emotions.
Each ‘emotion’ (state of consciousness) has a vibratory frequency. Our emotions come and go; however, our states of consciousness remain quite steady throughout our lifetime. For example, you may not be feeling the emotions of anger every day, but your inner world may be harboring anger on an overall subconscious level. Therefore, your overall state of consciousness will be of anger and coinciding with its vibratory frequency (150–175 mhz).

So, what does this all mean? It means that positive thinking does not have the impact it intends if the energy (or emotion) underlying the positive thought does not coincide with the thoughts you are projecting.
Let’s use a real example. You open your mindfulness/positive affirmation journal and you begin to complete the list of 10 Things you are grateful for today. As you are writing, your thoughts may wander with “when is this list going to finish?”, “lets just name some things”, “maybe I’ll write more then 10 that way it will show I am more grateful”, or even “car kitchen toilet wallet house” all while rushing through the list as fast as you can without truly being with the items themselves.
You have the thought of being grateful, yet your emotions are far from it.
Another example is that you wish and pray (thought form) for a pay rise because you urgently need it for extra bills and expenses. However, on a subconscious level, you believe that money is the root of all evil — the thought and emotion (state of consciousness) are not aligned and therefore it is unlikely that you will get that pay rise you desire.
Like Attracts Like
Quantum physics again has shown us that through the Law of Vibration, energy attracts energy alike. That is, energies that are vibrating at a certain frequency will draw itself to other forms of energy that are also vibrating at that similar frequency.
This may explain why sometimes you may find that people who are similar, on one level or another, tend to gravitate towards one another. It explains why some social groups tend to spend their time gossiping, whilst another group may like spending their time burning candles and sages. There’s nothing wrong or right, just each person in the group embodies a certain state of consciousness which then will attract itself to other people who too have similar levels of consciousness — energy attracts alike energy.
We don’t only attract people with similar levels of vibratory frequency/states of consciousness, but we also attract things, situations, environments and more.
Continuing with the use of our positive thinking and affirmation journals, let’s say you are writing a positive affirmation such as I am financially abundant, and you’re writing these 20 times. It doesn’t matter how much belief you have that this affirmation is true on a consciouslevel, but if your subconscious is filled with beliefs such as “I don’t deserve to have a lot of money”, or perhaps growing up your parents have repeatedly said to you “people like us can’t be rich like them”, that affirmation is practically false at that given time.
So, what’s going to happen is that rather than you attracting financial abundance, as you so highly desired, you’re going to attract scenarios that reflect your subconscious belief. For instance, you may attract situations whereby whenever you come into a sum of money, it somehow finds its way out of your life, such as, you come to earn a large amount from your business, but you enter a business deal and it somehow goes sour because your business partner screwed you over.
Your subconscious mind is much more powerful than your conscious mind. Our waking moments are governed by 95% of our subconscious. Therefore, whatever state of consciousness we are in, that is exactly what we will attract.
Reprogramming Your Subconscious Mind
Good news, though, folks, we are definitely not forever trapped by our subconscious mind. We can learn to reprogram to be at a state of consciousness that our conscious brain craves so badly for.
Our subconscious mind has been constructed from our early years, molded by our mothers, fathers, siblings, teachers and many idols. But your mind does not have to reflect other’s beliefs. You can learn to create your own.
Starting with positive thinking, rather than focusing on what you are grateful for, you want to be able to extract the why’s as well. The why’s is the best way to elicit emotions and feelings. Spend some time simmering in the why’s, don’t just graze over them. And if you’re finding it hard to find why you are grateful for something, start with something small, like a spoon. Use your imagination and let it flow. Remember to feel the emotions.
The next step is to be grateful for things that you don’t even have yet in your life. Imagine that what you wish for or desire is already in your life. Let that flow through your entire body and deeply feel what that is like for your world. Imagination is key.
Energy does not discriminate whether something is true or not, it just reads what is present. And if you are projecting the energy that you are grateful for having found a partner (even if you don’t currently have one), situations and scenarios will present itself to reflect that this state of being is true.
Awareness is key in all of this. Without awareness, the attempt to change anything appears to be a dead end.
Begin taking notice of when your subconscious beliefs about certain areas of your life appear: money, relationships, career, health etc. Do you scoff at people who drive nice cars, yet wonder why you can’t make more money? Do you believe that all men or women are evil, yet wonder why you can’t find a healthy relationship? Do you secretly detest people in higher management positions, yet wonder why you can’t seem to get a promotion?
The answers to your thoughts and judgements will paint a clear picture of what your subconscious mind is harboring.
Once you can catch yourself during those moments driven by your subconscious beliefs, you have just created a window of powerful choices.
You can choose the old self or the new constructed you that will serve you well.
